How to prevent early childhood caries

What’s more important than our kids? Every parent does their best to protect their little ones, even from the tiniest risks. One of the most common risks in early childhood that needs to be considered by parents is Tooth Decay. The development of tooth decay is frequently referred to as “caries.” Teeth might produce white chalky patches in the early stages, and they develop brown or black patches in the latter stages. Furthermore, the front four upper infant teeth are the most usually impacted. Early childhood caries can be reversed with management from a dentist or other oral health practitioners in its early stages. Unfortunately, because the early stages of decay can be difficult to detect, most cases of early childhood decay are not detected until the later, more severe phases. It cannot be reversed at this time, and the kid may require extensive dental care.
Every kid is susceptible to dental decay. On milk teeth -baby teeth-, the enamel, which is the strong outer covering, is significantly thinner and softer, putting them at higher risk of decay. But the good thing is that tooth decay may be avoided in most cases. Baby teeth assist kids in eating and speaking. They also assist the permanent adult teeth into position, thus it is critical to care for your child’s teeth from the beginning. Here are some useful prevention tips:
1. Clean your baby’s gums with a soft cloth & water.

2. If they have teeth, gently brush with a soft toothbrush.

3. Give your child milk bottles only during meals.

4. Don’t put your child to bed with a bottle.

5. Don’t dip pacifiers in any sweetened liquid.

6. Plan a balanced diet. Offer fruits & vegetables as a snack.

7. Limit starchy, sugary snacks and drinks.

8. Teach your child to start drinking from a cup.

9. Take your child to a pediatric dentist for an early evaluation.
